So just a couple days ago I was reading this great article in the newest Shambhala Sun called "Dead like Me" and the author quotes a W S Merwin poem I'd never read before, "On the Anniversary of my Death." Merwin contemplates living through the anniversary of the day he will die unknowingly each year of his life.
I don't think I had ever thought about that, but it's true...we all do. I thought, now that's poetry & have mulled it a bit over the last couple days. It's one of those ideas that tickle your brain. Or at least what I call "poetic" or profound ideas tickle MY brain.
So today I'm reading a children's book The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall and the ghost very nearly quotes the poem. Funny that such an idea would pop up two times & so near in time to each other.
